United Airlines is launching its largest ever expansion of flights between the US and Europe this summer with transatlantic capacity significantly higher than three years ago
The US carrier is introducing 30 new or resumed services over the next eight weeks, including flights from New York Newark to the new European destinations of Bergen in Norway, the Spanish islands of Majorca and Tenerife, and the Azores.
United has also just launched new daily flights between London Heathrow and Boston as well as operating a Munich-Denver route for the first time.
Other new transatlantic flights this summer include Chicago to Zurich, New York Newark to Nice in southern France, and a Chicago-Milan route.
With this expansion, United’s transatlantic route network will be more than 25 per cent larger than in 2019 and will be the largest airline across the Atlantic for the first time in history.
Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of international network and alliances, said: “We have long anticipated a strong demand recovery, evidenced by our large, strategic expansion in Europe, and with these new flights, we’re proud to offer our customers more options and access than ever before.”
United is also adding more daily frequencies on several routes this summer, such as New York Newark-Dublin, Denver-Heathrow, New York Newark-Frankfurt, New York Newark-Rome, San Francisco-Heathrow and New York Newark-Heathrow.
