After the recent turmoil in Turkey charter agencies in Scandinavia have not yet taken a position on how it will affect the desire to travel to Turkey next summer.
“There have been some demonstrations at our destinations during the late summer and autumn, and then many stories in the media. We have received questions from customers on the way down. Guests are regularly briefed about the situation on the destination but there have been quiet at the destinations recently, “says Magdalena Öhrn, Communications Manager, Ving, Sweden to TTO Scandinavia.
“The last departure is October 26, and then we will start the season again in March. We always follow the Ministry’s recommendations, and the Foreign Ministry does not advise against travel to those parts of Turkey where our destination are.
We are following developments closely and is in daily contact with our staff as well as we have regular meetings with the Foreign Ministry.
It is too early to say how the unrest will affect the booking situation for summer 16. We cannot see a clear pattern yet, but when there was unrest we could notice some sluggishness in sales.” says Magdalena Öhrn.
Ving this year expects around 700,000 charter guests.
“Will Ving have the same number of travelers to Spain and Greece next summer? Or will it rise?”
“We are increasing the Canary Islands, as well as to Mallorca. Otherwise unchanged. For next summer, we make a major investment in Croatia, and expanding the numbers by 40%. It is about 15, 000 people
Croatia is a fantastic country, cheap to live in and very beautiful. With a family hotel on Brac, we can also attract families with children, and it’s mostly families who booked Croatia recently.
Ving can now offer 17 destinations and almost 90 hotels in Croatia and from eight different departure airports in Sweden next summer also from Copenhagen. Ving has been offering trips to Croatia for very many years, but in recent years the country has been given a real boost.”
How has the year gone for Ving?
“Much thanks to poor summer sales in autumn and winter went very well. We have put in several extra flights during autumn break.
Regarding the winter we have an all-time high-occupancy, and we are expanding charter volume by 10% in the winter.“
How is Egypt this winter?
“It is a bit sluggish to Egypt. We have reduced volumes in the winter to about 10 000 passengers.”
And next summer?
“Summer 16 is 25 percent higher compared to the previous year at the same time. Majorca and Cyprus sells really well.”
