Germany did it when will we follow in the Nordics??
Waving the flag again: Turkey is hoping for a strong comeback in the Nordic source market.
Tour operators and airlines in Nordics are ready to expand capacity to Turkey at short notice in response to an expected surge in demand when travel restrictions in the Nordics are expected to be lifted. Germany has already introduced changes and TUI, FTI and Sun Express were among the first companies to expand their portfolios in expectation of a rapid rise in bookings.
Firstly, Turkey eased its requirements for international visitors last week, meaning that Germans only need to present a negative PCR or Antigen test in order to enter the country.
Then, in response to falling infection rates, the German foreign ministry updated its travel advice for Turkey last Friday (June 4), downgrading its pandemic status from ‘high incidence area’ to ‘risk area’. This means that German holidaymakers returning from Turkey no longer have to undergo a period of quarantine.
Hotels open again
FTI has also increased its capacity for Turkey at short notice, with most of its hotels in beach holiday areas opening successively so that virtually the entire programme will be on offer by the start of July.: “We are well prepared and have already opened all the hotels from our portfolio in the coastal areas that are especially popular with our repeat guests.”
