Thailand government said that Thailand used to approach Formula One Group to host the F1 events but the deal collapsed.

Now that Malaysia has agreed not to extend the deal which is scheduled to end in 2018 and Singapore’s deal which is due to expire next year will not be renewed, Mr Sakon said there is a good chance that Thailand can fill the void and talks with F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone could start.

He pointed out that the race tracks in Buri Ram or Chon Buri could be used for F1 races which will make Thailand the hub of motor sports.
