Several major German airports are canceling all passenger flights planned for Friday. The reason is a strike announced by the Verdi union.
A Lufthansa spokeswoman confirmed to BILD that the airports in Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg are affected. Stuttgart Airport will also be idle on Friday.
Don’t come to the airport!
Fraport spokesman Dieter Hulick to BILD: “We recommend that passengers not even come to the airport. They should contact their airline and see if they can be rebooked to other airports. In Germany, the train is an alternative.”
︎The airport association ADV estimates that more than 295,000 passengers will be affected by the strike.
Munich Airport said: Special flights such as relief flights and flights for medical, technical and other emergencies as well as flights for the Munich Security Conference are excluded from the cancellation.
Leading politicians from all over the world are expected to attend the meeting, including numerous heads of state and government.
