Singapore Airlines aims to boost its footprint in the North America market with a deal to codeshare with Alaska Airlines. The codeshare pact will take effect from September 27, SIA said. It gives Singapore Airlines passengers more options for onward travel with its ‘SQ’ code placed on Alaska Air flights to 18 destinations in the US and Mexico. These include Anchorage, Alaska, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Minneapolis, Seattle and Washington Reagan. The codeshare flights will be made available gradually on Singaapore Airline’s various sales channel in the coming weeks. Existing codeshare flights operated by Virgin America, which is now part of the Alaska Air Group, are also included in the agreement. “Our new partnership with Alaska Airlines enables us to improve connectivity between Singapore and the important North American market, and offer our customers greater flexibility,” said Tan Kai Ping, senior vice president of market planning for SIA. In addition, Singapore Air’s KrisFlyer members will be able to redeem miles on Alaska Airlines-operated routes starting from September 27.
