The airline has partnered with Singapore’s Changi Airport (SIN) and the Singapore Tourism Board to relaunch its Free Singapore Tour program for transit passengers.

According to Singapore Airlines, transit and transfer passengers account for 30% of passenger traffic in Changi Airport.

In 2019, more than 80,000 passengers went on the Free Singapore Tour. The top markets were India, Australia, and Indonesia, with Indian and Australian travelers making up more than one third of the total participants. The program was paused for two years due to the pandemic.

Eligible passengers can choose from four different itineraries, all lasting 2.5 hours.

For those who simply want to get away from the airport and get a glimpse of the eastern part of Singapore away from the crowds, there’s the Changi Precinct Tour. Passengers who want to see the best of Singapore’s tourist spots in a short tour can take the City Sights Tour. If shopping, dining, and modern attractions are more your style then there’s the Jewel Tour which takes passengers to Singapore’s latest modern attraction – The Jewel.

Starting June 2023, the program will introduce a Heritage Tour for those who want to see the historical and cultural side of Singapore.

“We welcome the timely relaunch of the enhanced Free Singapore Tour, which offers a unique transit experience for our customers. We are pleased to continue working closely with CAG and STB to promote the sustainable growth of travel to and through Singapore,” Lee Lik Hsin, executive vice president commercial at Singapore Airlines said in a statement.

Passengers who wish to join the Free Singapore Tour must have a layover period of at least 5.5 hours but less than 24 hours. Participants will need to have a valid entry visa for Singapore to take part in the tours.
