Singapore Airlines has won the title of world’s best airline in the Skytrax World Airlines Awards.
In claiming first prize, Singapore moved from its second-place position last year, supplanting Qatar Airways. Qatar claimed second place this year while Japan’s All Nippon Airways maintained its ranking of third.
Asian carriers earned the remainder of the top 10 spots, with the exception of Lufthansa, which placed seventh. Delta was Skytrax’s highest-ranked U.S. carrier at 37th, one slot ahead of Alaska. Other U.S. carriers in the top 100 were JetBlue (42), Southwest (57), American (71). Hawaiian (77) and United (88).

Singapore topped the overall Skytrax award by offering a strong product throughout its aircraft. The carrier won the Skytrax award for world’s best first class and came in second for world’s best economy class.
Thai Airways, which finished tenth overall, took top honors in the economy class category. Qatar won top prize in the business class category, and Air New Zealand won for best premium economy class.
Survey participants are queried on a broad range of subjects related to the airlines’ cabin service, onboard product and airport services.
Skytrax determined its award winners based upon a nine-month survey in which more than 20 million people worldwide participated.
