Angkor Wat is to open two hours earlier while a new code of conduct has been created for visitors.
As of January 1, the Cambodian temple complex will open at 5.30am, giving tourists the opportunity to watch sunrise on site.
However, tourists will be expected to follow the guidelines or face the risk of punishment, The Telegraph reports.
Posters by the site remind travellers that smoking, giving to begging children and taking selfies with monks have all been forbidden.
Climbing over the monuments is also a no no while a recent trend for stripping at Angkor Wat is being tackled, with visitors being reminded to keep their clothes on at all times.
