The Raffles Hotel Singapore, arguably the most iconic hotel in Asia, has opened its doors after a two-year long refurbishment.
The comprehensive restoration was led by interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud along with architecture and design firm Aedas.
The all-suite hotel has expanded from 103 suites to 115 suites, and has added three new suite categories.
These are Residence, Promenade and Studio suites.
There are now nine distinct suite categories.
“There are few hotels in the world whose names have become virtually synonymous with the cities in which they are located – and none more so than the Raffles Hotel in Singapore,” said Christian Westbeld, general manager.
“It is one of the few remaining great 19th century hotels in the world and its restoration has been carefully designed to preserve its unique historic charm.”
The Raffles Arcade has been given a makeover with a new Raffles Boutique and various bespoke retail brands.
It still retains the Long Bar as the iconic place to sip the Singapore Sling.
Raffles Hotel Singapore opened in 1887, and was declared a National Monument a century later.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of founding father Sir Stamford Raffles setting foot in Singapore for the first time.
