Munich Airport’s new summer timetable offers travellers a wide range of attractive new routes. It will be in effect from now until Saturday, October 29, 2016.
Airlines have booked slots for over 242,000 flights to 243 destinations in 68 different countries. This represents an increase of 11,000 take-offs and landings as compared with the same period in 2015. In addition to 17 German airports and 175 medium-range routes, scheduled services will be available to 51 intercontinental destinations.
The airport is again experiencing substantial gains in the intercontinental segment.
Lufthansa is offering new connections to Denver (five times a week starting in May) and Tehran (three times a week from the beginning of July).
The US airline Delta will be departing daily to Detroit from the end of May. At the beginning of July, Saudia, based in Saudi Arabia, will launch its service from Munich via Riyadh to Jeddah with five weekly departures. Emirates has already bumped up its service to Dubai to three flights a day. The third round trip, currently still being operated with a Boeing 777 airliner, will be flown by the Airbus A380 starting on June 1. Condor will add four new intercontinental destinations in June, with one flight per week to each of Halifax, on the Canadian east coast, the Cuban capital, Havana, Windhoek in Namibia and via Zanzibar (Tanzania) to Mombasa, Kenya.
The French-Dutch airline Transavia is offering an impressive 19 European destinations over the summer period, mainly in Italy, Portugal and Spain. To support the logistics of about 100 flights per week, the low cost airline will station four aircraft at Munich Airport.
The airline bmi regional will add another plane to the two it already has stationed in Munich. In cooperation with Lufthansa, bmi regional offers six weekly services to Norrköping, Sweden and Rostock, in the north of Germany. Moreover, it will also offer 12 flights per week to Milan/Bergamo and 12 to Southampton in the UK.
The city on the English south coast is also served by flybe (seven times a week). Lufthansa is also launching new European destinations this summer. The German airline will serve Debrecen in Hungary and Porto, Portugal, three and four times a week, respectively, and will depart once a day for Rzeszów in Poland. For the first time, passengers in Munich can take advantage of a direct service to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, with the twice weekly service offered by Germania. Icelandair is expanding its range of flights to Reykjavik, adding four new weekly departures and bringing the total to 11 flights per week.
