The German airline Lufthansa is currently experiencing major problems with the company’s computer systems.
This has led to widespread flight cancellations and delays.
This is written by the German media Bild. It is an IT error at Lufthansa that has caused what Bild describes as ‘worldwide airport chaos’ on Wednesday.
Lufthansa informs the German media that it is still in the process of determining the extent of the problems, but all airlines in the Lufthansa group are affected.
Bild further writes that images and video clips from several German airports show ‘chaos in the departure halls’.
The IT error affects, among other things, the systems for check-in and boarding.
Lufthansa is Europe’s second largest airline – after Air France-KLM.
The German group owns, among others, Austrian Airlines, Swiss and Brussels Airlines.
