Germany’s largest union for cabin employees, the UFO, warns that the union’s members will strike from Sunday following a dispute with Lufthansa about wage regulations.
The strike among UFO members has been announced for Lufthansa’s two major airport hubs – Frankfurt and Munich – where Lufthansa’s cabin staff will quit work from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. 11 Sunday, October 20, 2019.
Disagreement on pay
The strike comes after disagreement between the UFO and the Lufthansa Group on the salary level of the cabin crew of the six airlines belonging to the Lufthansa group – Lufthansa, Eurowings, Germanwings, Lufthansa CityLine and SunExpress, which is a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines.
Strikes among UFO members could potentially include up to 30,000 employees of the Lufthansa Group’s airlines. The UFO had previously threatened strikes during the busy summer months, but failed to take action following unrest over changes in the union’s leadership.
