The pax on Icelandair have great potential to follow what is going on at ground level, though they are high above the clouds.
21 of Icelandair’s 23 aircraft have Wi-Fi on board and the goal is that the last two aircraft have Wi-Fi by the end of 2015. The connection speed is equivalent to a 3G connection and it’s simple to log on.
But is it actually possible to post on Facebook and other social media, check e-mails, chat with friends, etc. quite up there on the way to Iceland or on the Atlantic.
Another thing is how it works. Icelandair has produced an “infographic” that explains and illustrates how Wi-Fi works at higher altitudes.
Icelandair has 42 destinations, here of 16 destinations in North America: Boston, Washington DC New York (JFK and Newark), Orlando, Minneapolis / St. Paul, Denver, Seattle, Anchorage, Portland, and Chicago (March 2016) in the United States. Toronto, Halifax, Vancouver, Edmonton and Montréal (May 2016) in Canada.
