The capital city of Iceland is one of the most expensive car rental destinations in Europe this late summer. So concludes a new survey conducted by CheapCarRental.net. The survey specifically compared the car rental prices of 100 European destinations during the month of August 2015.
In Reykjavik, car renters will have to spend an average of Euro 70 per day for the cheapest available car. It has to be noted that for each destination the main airport was chosen at the as the Pick-Up and Drop-Off location. So for Iceland’s capital, the Reykjavík-Keflavík International Airport was taken into consideration when determining the average cost.
Only two other European destinations are more expensive than Reykjavik according to the survey. They are Bergen, located on Norway’s southwestern coast, and the Azores, the autonomous island of Portugal. There, average car rental rates are running Euro 74 and Euro 75, respectively.
With Trondheim and Oslo snagging the survey’s fourth and fifth slots, a total of three Norwegian destinations made it into the Top 10. Three destinations in Greece did as well. Crete, Athens and Thessaloniki came in eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively.
