Halifax ranks as one of Canada’s priciest cities when lodging cost is the determining factor. The capital of the province of Nova Scotia landed in the number three spot in a recent run-down of 30 destinations in Canada. CheapHotels.org conducted the survey that determined the rankings.
In coming up with the list, CheapHotels compared the average rate for the cheapest available double room in each of 30 urban Canadian destinations. The month of June was chosen for its comparative suitability since the majority of destinations in Canada reach their highest average rates then.
Overnight travelers to Halifax can expect to pay an average of $148 (CAD) per night for the least expensive double room this June. It bears mention that the survey excluded hotels that were not centrally located and those with less than a three-star rating and/or a negative average rating from previous guests.
Topping the survey were Vancouver, British Columbia and Toronto, Ontario. Average nightly rates of $164 and $152, respectively, for their most affordable double room put them in the number one and two spots. Rounding out the Top 4 is St John’s. Newfoundland and Labrador’s capital city took the number four position on the survey with an average rate of $146 per night.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive city destinations in Canada. The prices shown reflect the average price for each destination’s cheapest available double room (minimum 3-star hotel) for the period spanning June 1st through June 30, 2016.
