“I have been promised by the chief of Air India, that Air India in spring 2017 will start a direct flight between Copenhagen and New Delhi.
With around 20,000 tourist visitors a year from Denmark there is basis for a direct air route. A direct route will increase the number of tourists.
At the same time there will be more tourists to India after e-visas to India has become easier and also applies to Denmark and the other Nordic countries. There were 500 on-line visa applications from Denmark in August. 600 in September and I expect the number will increase. ” So said Rajeev Shahare, Indian ambassador in Denmark, at an Indian Workshop in Copenhagen with 12 exhibitors from India and 20 travel agents. The workshop had been in Helsinki and Stockholm, but not Oslo.
Air India has 21 Boeing 787 planes at present, and it will be receiving six planes of the type from November to 2018. The launch of the new services will take place as it inducts the new planes. Air India’s 787 Dreamliner has 238 seats in Economy and 18 in Business Class. | |
Later, Stockholm will be considered,” said the ambassador.
The only route now between the North and India is from Helsinki where Finnair flies three times a week to Delhi.
Sweden is the Scandinavian country, which has by far the most visitors to India. The numbers say. Arrivals in 2015:
Sweden 42.621
Denmark 24.073
Norway 19757
Finland 18.129
