Travel Service will dominate the Czech Airlines with a 98% share.
After Travel Service takes over ČSA, a strong group will be created, and with more than 60 airplanes, it will be the biggest player on Václav Havel Airport. Travel Service had 49 airplanes in the summer, ČSA had 19. As a larger group, the combined airlines will now also have a better negotiating position, for example with aircraft manufacturers. While Travel Service has been faithful to Boeing for a long time, ČSA’s fleet consists of Airbus and ATR. “Travel Service has sought to join Czech Airlines for a long time now, and expressed its interest in 2009 already. The objective of acquiring a majority in ČSA is to build a strong airline, operating a fleet of 70 to 80 airplanes,” said Jiří Šimáně, Chairman of the Travel Service Board of Directors. Travel Service has been on the market since 1997. In 2015, its profits reached 240 million Czech crowns, in sales worth 17.5 billion. It is the leader in charter transport in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, and a significant market player in Poland.
