“Essential Costa Rica.”
It was the headline at Costa Rica’s road show in Copenhagen and Stockholm. In Copenhagen about 40 travel agents signed up. They heard about the little “green” country in Central America with 4.5 million inhabitants, no military, 60 national parks, where 52 percent of the country is protected and where there is no space for mass tourism.
80 percent of the hotels have less than 20 rooms.
As well as 950 kinds of birds, 300,000 kinds of insects and 1,251 different butterflies.
Costa Rica has around 20,000 visitors a year from Scandinavia. Denmark 4500, Sweden 10,000, Norway 4000 and Finland 2000.
And Costa Rica was a little more present in Copenhagen, because former President Jose Maria Figueres OIsen again stands as presidential candidate. His mother is Karin Olsen. She is from Denmark.
