IndiGo, India’s preferred carrier, has unveiled plans to introduce three new flight routes starting from May 01, 2024, connecting Kozhikode-Kochi, Kochi-Agatti, and Kozhikode-Agatti via Kochi. These new routes aim to meet the growing demand for travel between these destinations and improve both inter and intrastate connectivity across India. IndiGo recently commenced daily direct flights between Bengaluru and Agatti, marking the 88th domestic and 121st overall destination within its extensive 6E network. The addition of these new routes linking Agatti with Kochi and Kozhikode will offer business and leisure travelers increased flight options, better accessibility, and enhanced connectivity to the Lakshadweep archipelago.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to introduce these three new routes, further enhancing our connectivity to the scenic Agatti island in Lakshadweep, the latest addition to the 6E network.” “These routes will not only improve accessibility to and from Kerala and beyond but will also significantly boost travel, tourism, and trade in the region, especially with the approaching summer holiday season,” he added.
“As India’s leading airline, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing affordable, punctual, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences.” Kozhikode, formerly known as Calicut, is a vibrant city located in the southern state of Kerala, renowned for its historical significance, picturesque beaches, and delectable cuisine, offering a harmonious blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty.
Kozhikode, historically renowned as a significant spice trade center, holds a special place in India’s coastal heritage. Notably close to Kappad Beach, where Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama made landfall in 1498, the city boasts a rich historical tapestry. Among its top attractions are the tranquil backwaters, picturesque Kozhippara and Thusharagiri waterfalls, the culturally vibrant Beypore, and the scenic Kakkayam.
Kochi, known as the ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea,’ graces India’s southwest coast with its charm. Serving as Kerala’s commercial, industrial, and financial capital, it stands as a beacon of the state’s tourism landscape. With its stunning beaches, expansive coastline, lush tea plantations, vibrant culture, and architectural splendor, Kochi beckons travlers with diverse interests. Agatti Island, famed for its picturesque beaches and rich marine life, stretches across 6 kilometers of pristine land. Hosting the only airstrip in the Lakshadweep archipelago, it serves a vital link to the mainland. Adventure seekers flock to Agatti for activities like deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, and kayaking.
