Chinese government claims a world first ahead of the start of the Winter Olympics.
CMG has introduced 5G capability on a Chinese high-speed train.
THE China Media Group (CMG) has unveiled 5G livestreaming audio technology on the 350km/h Beijing – Zhangjiakou high-speed line ahead of the start of the Winter Olympics which take place between February 4 and 20.
CMG has created a studio on-board the high-speed train, which will be used to transport athletes, journalists and staff between three sites during the games.
China Railway, China Railway Beijing Group, China Unicom and China Mobile are also involved in the project, which uses 5G+4K/8K+AI in UHD TV live broadcasts. There are around 400 5G base stations installed along the 170km route to ensure stable signal transmissions. Journey times are 47 minutes.
The trains have also been fitted with special areas to store ski equipment and doping samples that will be collected during the games.
